In recent tests, the Fury drone of Lockheed Martin held out in the air for more than 12 hours. After it is equipped with a new engine, the duration of the drone’s flight will increase to 15 hours.
Fury was specifically designed for strategic support of tactical units – reconnaissance and surveillance. The device is started with a catapult.
Fury is made according to the scheme “mixed wing”. Its weight is 136 kg, the altitude of the flight is 4570 meters, and the wingspan is 5.2 meters. The flight provides an internal combustion engine with a pushing screw installed in the tail section. Thanks to the new engine 1803, the drone will be able to stay in the air for three hours longer.
The total useful load of the UAV is 91 kg, of which 45 kg are equipment – an optoelectronic surveillance system, a voice retransmission system, a satellite communication system and sensors of the electronic intelligence system.
Modernization of Fury will make it one of the most hardy drones of its class, which will greatly enhance its effectiveness in conducting reconnaissance, surveillance and electronic warfare.
